The Mersey Docks and Harbour Company - part of the Peel Ports Group - has appointed Mervyn Bull as Head of Cargo Operations following the retirement of John Farrar as the Company's General Manager Operations.
The current manager of the Port of Liverpool's Seaforth Container Terminal, Andrew Francis, will deputise for Mervyn Bull as required.
In a life-time career with the Port of Liverpool, Mervyn Bull has held several senior management positions in cargo operations and has been Assistant General Manager Operations at the Port of Liverpool for the past four years.
John Farrar, a familiar figure in both the shipping and ports industries, had been with Mersey Docks since 1995, before which he served in the UK and abroad with Portia Management Services, the Port of Liverpool's overseas consultancy. His earlier career included key management positions in container shipping./p>
Andrew Francis was a senior consultant with Portia Management Services prior to his appointment as Seaforth Container Terminal Manager.
Budha Majumdar, Managing Director, Mersey Ports, said: "Mervyn brings a raft of experience to this key appointment following the retirement of John Farrar, who made his own valuable contribution to the success of the Port of Liverpool. Andrew Francis adds further depth to a management team set to achieve even greater things in the future."
