Port of Liverpool - General Cargo and Fresh Produce

Liverpool is Britain's most diverse port in the range of cargoes it handles. General cargo has remained a staple of its trade despite the industry's shift to containerised and bulk cargoes.

Underpinned by a community of companies capable of matching diversity of traffic with essential expertise, the Port today handles more than half a million tonnes of general cargo including the full spectrum of steel products, fertilisers and food.

The food sector has been expanded to include fresh produce following a £5 million investment in a 90,000 sq ft (9,000 sq metre) cool store at Royal Seaforth Dock, dedicated to servicing the fruit and vegetable imports trade from the only fresh produce facility in any port in the North of England.
